CDL Doors is an independent company that specializes in acoustic doors and industrial doors which are manufactured at our Carlisle base and are exported to over 50 countries.
With over 30 years of independent acoustic test data, Clark Door has built a worldwide reputation for supplying high quality, reliable doors to the entertainment industry, film studios, music venues, theater, cultural centers and many other industries requiring specialist, sound insulating and acoustic fire rated doors.
Clark Door traces its heritage back to 1873 in Newark, New Jersey, USA. Growing to become one of the largest wholesale and timber mill operations in the USA. The company innovated and evolved into the manufacture of large industrial doors, gaining numerous contracts across multiple industries as well as the US Department of Defence. By the 1950's the company had three manufacturing sites in the USA with later operations in Canada, Sweden and South Africa.
The UK factory was opened in 1973. Paul Ashley initiated a management acquisition of the UK Company in 1991 and today, Clark Door Ltd is a family business led by Paul and Andrew Ashley; both qualified engineers with a passion for excellence.

The company holds many patents for its product design innovations and has unrivalled fire certification, acoustic laboratory and site-test data. It is one of the few international companies that can offer fire rated doors up to 65 feet x 65 feet and sound ratings in excess of STC60.

CDL doors are all custom, specialty doors so do not come with instructions. We provide a CDL supervisor who will instruct and support local installation crew/s with the installation and commissioning of the doors.
It is preferred to use local installation teams under the supervision of our experienced project management to ensure local standards / regulations are met and CDL doors are installed to the customer’s satisfaction. The local installation team can be trained to undertake Planned Preventative Maintenance and service of the doors following installation.
Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) service is recommended to ensure the ongoing safety, reliability and performance of your acoustic / fire rated doors. PPM will prolong the life of your doors and reduce the likelihood of operational difficulties and expensive repairs: there are many CDL doors still functioning well after 20 years in the field.
